We are delighted to announce the teams who will compete for the Thrive Spelling Bee Trophy 2026. Sponsored by Gateway Heyworth and following highly successful tournaments in 2024 & 2025, which were won by Newland Queen Bees and Kelvin Spelvinators respectively, there will be 7 primary school teams and 6 secondary teams battling it out in the semi-finals. The Hull Young People's Parliament team, with Precious, who is one of Hull's UK Youth Parliament Members visited Priory Primary this afternoon. They led a Pop-Up Parliament session with year 5 & 6 members of the Junior Leadership Team. First, the Priory pupils were asked what they would expect from the Hull Young Mayor and then they drew mind maps showing their views on 'Crime & Safety'. The Eco Committee at Newland School for Girls welcomed Lauren Murtagh from 'Living With Water' this afternoon for another great workshop. The focus was on Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDs). The students had to identify an area of the school campus that was prone to flooding and devise a scheme for it. We were really impressed with the variety of different solutions presented.
