We are very pleased to tell you that you and your Eco-Committee at Priory Primary School have been successful in meeting the requirements for the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award.
We reviewed your application and noted the following:
It’s very impressive that you have formed such a large Eco-Committee. It shows that young people in your school are aware of environmental issues and committed to being active and creating positive change. This knowledge and attitude has provided your school with excellent foundations for the many successes that you’ve achieved this year this year.
It was great to read that the Environmental Review provided plenty of ideas for creating positive impacts for your school and helped form a suitable Action Plan for your School. We love that your Environmental Review inspired the choice of projects in your Action Plan. Choosing to tackle the topics you scored lowest in was a great initiative. It’s a strong approach to work on things that will produce visible impact and change, and a great example of critical thinking.
It’s also great to hear that family volunteers are contributing towards challenges like vandalism, bringing about a sense of togetherness to reach likeminded goals. Your Curriculum Links are terrific! We love how you’ve creatively layered them across your classroom studies in such interesting and complimentary ways.
We think involving children in creating an outdoor sensory area for children with SEND is a wonderful idea, it’s very clear to see that you are a School that takes pride in togetherness and helping each other.
Your Eco-Committee have made considerable efforts to keep their schoolmates and community up-to-date on their progress, using a variety of methods including newsletters, student talks and the use of social media. This comprehensive approach will help to engage others and expand the reach of your Eco-Schools work.
It is also wonderful to see you getting involved with various organisations such as the Local Council - a great example of collaboration. Your ability and willingness to partnership is impressive! We’ll need this approach to fight the impacts of climate change in the future!
Your Eco-Code is very punchy, clear and easy to digest for those that see it. It’s a direct call to action. We love this!
