We've had our summer meetings of the International Pupil Council, with schools in Hull and Freetown (Sierra Leone) discussing climate change. Students from Clifton, Griffin, Longhill, Priory, St James, Sidmouth and Stepney Primary Schools as well as Newland School for Girls, spent an afternoon at Longhill Primary School. During the first half of the session, they looked at Greenhouse Gases, their causes and ways to reduce them. Then, they considered the effects of the Global Warming. During the second part of the afternoon, they looked in detail at the causes of flooding in Hull and Sierra Leone and solutions. It was great to see the depth of knowledge of the children and the brilliant way they interacted with each other across schools. We were also joined by Rev Alan Bagshaw from the Freetown Society, who has had strong links with Freetown for many years. Meanwhile, in Freetown, students were also talking about Climate change, including flooding in their country and the effects of deforestation. Once again, we were excited to have two meetings taking place on different continents and the chance to share each others' work.
