Hull & Freetown IPC Meeting discuss 'Crime & Safety'

One of the themes being discussed at many levels of Youth Voice & Influence this year is 'Crime & Safety'. Today, there were two International Pupil Council meetings taking place simultaneously, one in Freetown, Sierra Leone and the other in Hull. There were some brilliant discussions. In our Hull meeting, the students first considered what is meant by 'Safety in the Community', followed by a very indepth session on 'What is Crime'. They then tackled various scenarios, thinking about different problems and possible solutions. Children from different schools worked together all afternoon and were a credit to their schools. Our profound thanks go to Mr Ash, Miss Utton and three of their students at Newland School for Girls for being the most incredible hosts. Our thanks also go to the staff and student representatives from Bricknell, Chiltern, Clifton, Priory, St. James and Stepney Primary Schools.

Meanwhile, in Freetown, Mr Mason led an equally successful meeting with children from schools in the city. This is the fifteenth year of the IPC.
