Stepney Humber Forest Tree Planting with Rewilding Youth

Updated: Nov 17, 2023

We have had a brilliant day with Les, Charlotte, Ruby, Colin from Rewilding Youth and Rosie from the Pickering Road Community Orchard. All children from Reception to Year 6 took part in today's event, which was to plant 9 fruit trees to complete Stepney's orchard and a total of 425 whips. These will form two long hedgerows on the school field. This is all courtesy of Anya and the team at Humber Forest. This links in perfectly with the recently launched National Education Nature Park by the Government and the Natural History Museum to increase biodiversity and carbon capture on our school estates.

Our sincere thanks go to everyone who helped today, including a team of 23 eager parents who joined us at the end of the day to complete the hedge planting.
