The Pupil Voice Team at Stepney met with Lucy and Jessica from the C3 Group this afternoon, to tell them about the Eco actions they have been doing this year. The school has been busy collecting plastic bottle tops as part of the Schoolcycled project and they have also taken part in the WoW project, encouraging and tracking journeys to school on foot, scooter and bicycle.

They have been doing lots of planting around the school and linking this in with the curriculum. Foundation Stage having been putting in plants for the butterflies that they help grow from caterpillars. Lots of wild flower seeding has taken place around the playground and by the school car park. The seeds from this area are being dried out, ready to sow next year.

Around the orchard that they are growing, they have let the grass grow to form a meadow area. As this continues to grow, the school is going to be creating pathways and seated areas within this.

The School has been proud to gain the RHS Level 4 award this year for its efforts in supporting wildlife.

The overall look of the school grounds has significantly changed from being manicured to a much more natural environment.

Lucy and Jessica were pleased to give them their C3 Eco Excellence certificate.
