Chiltern's Junior Leadership Team all take on the role of Eco Ambassadors. Led by Miss Gibson, they continue to do amazing Eco work. This morning, Lucy and Jessica from the C3 Group were enthralled to learn all about how Chiltern pupils are helping the planet. At the start of the year, they stopped using glue sticks, favouring big tubs of PVA glue, which they distribute in small pots on tables. This saved on the plastic used in the glue sticks and massive cost savings. These savings were used to buy a trim trail for KS1. Furthermore, the trim trail is made from recycled plastic.
They have been planting loads of trees around the site, including a playground perimeter and adding to their already-flourishing orchard. With the Eco students from neighbouring The Boulevard Academy they have been involved in litter picking on the public paths between the schools.
The school has been busy collecting plastic bottle tops as part of the Schoolcycled project and they intend to use these to acquire even more recycled plastic furniture.
Finally, the school has been involved with the WoW project, encouraging and tracking journeys to school on foot, scooter and bicycle.
These actions are in addition to the other work that the school has been doing over the last few years, including tackling food wastage.
