This afternoon, Ruth and Corinna from Hull Young People's Parliament led a Pop-Up Parliament session with students from our three secondary schools. Representatives from Newland School for Girls and The Boulevard Academy joined hosts Kelvin Hall School for a great afternoon. Following an Ice-Breaker activity, the students were asked about their views on 'Crime & Safety'. Next, they had a workshop on 'Votes for 16 year olds', asking what they would need to help give them the necessary information when it comes to voting. As Hull's Young Mayor, Eunice, explained to the students, this information will be passed onto the relevant scrutiny committee at Hull City Council. Valuable viewpoints were gained from this session. The afternoon concluded with a view of some of the podcasts that the students have been producing along with a video fo the recent Hull Young People's Parliament at the Guildhall. This prompted some more of our students to express an interest in joining the Hull Young Mayor's Team.
